Wann?
Wann?
Das Beetleevent ist 8.&9. September.
Am Wochenende vor der Maker Faire?
Sportlich.

Robodojo Announcement
Sunday 15th July 2018 will see the founding of Robodojo UK.
Based in Yorkshire it will be an academy and club, where enthusiasts can develop the craft of robotic combat and meet like-minded friends. The development of other robotic sports will be encouraged, as will all the relevant skills such as; prototyping, electronics, mechanics, coding, CAD,CAM, 3D Printing and more.
The word Do jo derives from the Japanese words dō meaning Way, and jō meaning place. So Robodojo is intended as a home for the 'Way of the Robot'.
The first event will feature two main competitions at Antweight and Beetleweight. But don't worry, if you don't have robot built yet there will be a Sumo competition for K’nex based machines with all the materials available on the day, though places will be limited to 10 teams.
Of particular importance will be a short meeting on the day where we will outline our vision of the way forward for Robodojo and ask for further input. We intend to have a spinner capable Featherweight arena operating in the Autumn which will allow us to run a series of tournaments at Featherweight, Beetleweight and Antweight over the course of year. There will also be regular 'whiteboard'/development events; held during the day and in evenings, to allow teams to gain experience before heading into the arena proper.
Though initially led by Team Conker it is intended that Robodojo will be a separate society associated with the FRA but managed by members.
Signups/timings for the inaugural event will be available shortly. The event will be held at KB Technologies Ltd Sherburn Industrial estate LS25 6NS. Sherburn train station is 5 minutes’ walk, By car Robodojo is 5 minutes from the A1/M62 junction, less than an hour from Sheffield and Hull, just over an hour from Nottingham, an hour and a quarter from Manchester, an hour and a half from Newcastle and less than 2 hours from Birmingham and Liverpool.
For those coming from further afield a quick look on Airbnb will show a range of cheap accommodation from less than £20 per night.
We regret that because the event will be taking place in part of a CNC machine shop the venue is not currently suitable for under 14s, those under 16 years of age will need to be accompanied by an adult.
The Beetle and Antweight events will be held under slightly modified versions of the AWS and FRA rules which reflect both recent practice at live events and our own constraints.
Finally If you have a Featherweight you'd like to test or demo then you are welcome to bring it along. Our Beetleweight arena is built to Featherweight specifications (apart from dimensions) and was used in the opening sequence of Robot Wars series 8 for a demonstration of the art of TV destruction by Conker 3.
Looking forward to many great days roboteering.

Alles anzeigenGood evening roboteers!
I'm very pleased to announce that middleweights will return to the UK at Extreme Robots Chatham! Pending FRA approval, we will designate this the FRA 2018 Middleweight Championships. Due to it being a quieter event than some others, we'll have space for a fully-fledged tournament. Depending on the amount of entries and slots we get, we can adapt the structure to meet everyone's needs, don't you worry
Plus, I'm very pleased to announce a prize of £500, very kindly funded by ACE Robotics! More than enough to make another, so get building! It's a great chance at really giving them the start they need; some great exposure like that will help consolidate them as a legitimate weight class in the UK, and thus help give them a bright future.
In the past, people have wanted to build the cheap and cheerful featherweights, or TV-ready heavyweights. But with no show now, we're entering a new generation of live robot combat, and these finally have a place (plus I'd argue they're a better fit in the arenas than heavies).
With Robot Wars fresh in people's minds and interest at an all-time high, it's worth another go right? That's what I though three months ago when I considered building one. Turns out a few other teams were putting some together as well; things developed from there. Now, we've got four built and six on the way, plus great interest from others, far better than ever before. And they make so much sense; I'd long wanted to build a heavyweight, however they were simply too impractical for me om my own, not to mention a tad out of my budget. But a pair of TZ85s, 350w scooter motors, heck even wheelchair motors: these give a more than decent drive for a MW at a fraction of the cost. I'm able to build and transport this all on my own with relative ease, which would be a hell of a task with a heavyweight.
But what to do with these new robots?
Well, we have confirmation from Jonno that middleweights are absolutely fine in his arena, and Alan says we can fight any non-Full-Pressure HW flipper because of the roof. The choices are great at the moment; Robogames is the obvious one, however I know FMB are really keen to accept more middleweights this year. Even a Chinese TV show as a clusterbot. But we have some great options at home: we can run on our own, in clusters, or of course the champs.
What do you say?
If you've ever thought of building a heavyweight but don't quite have everything necessary, why not give these a go? They're less of a major investment, plus we'd welcome a new middleweight with open arms; and you'll be part of something truly great.
Good luck!

Irgendwo in England...
