Questions concerning England 2003

  • I have just sent an email to robotwars@mentorn.co.uk with a couple of questions about the upcomming England event. Here is the email:

    Hello,

I still have a couple of questions concerning the upcomming RW in England.
I understand that we must first qualify to compete, but my questions concern the number of robots that will be allowed after the qualifications.

    UK Robot Wars 2003 Championship:
1.) How many robots will be allowed to participate?
2.) How many of these will be from other countries?
3.) How many German robots will be allowed?

    Third World Championship
4.) How many robots will be allowed to participate?
5.) How many of these will be from other countries?
6.) How many German robots will be allowed?

I also have a couple of questions concerning the Qualifying rounds:
7.) Do ALL robots have to compete in the qualifier or are there "exceptions"?
8.) Will all robots have an equal chance or are the English robots favored?

    Thank you for you time,

as soon as I get a response, I will post it here.

    gruss: frank

  • I still haven´t got an answer. I don´t think I am going to get one either.

This leads to a couple of conclusions:

    1. They don´t know the answers yet
    or,

    2. They don´t want to answer.
    or,

    3. They are waiting to see how many applications they get from each country.
    or last,

    4. They just think I am an idiot, and its not worth their time to answer. :D

    any other ideas?

  • As it seems at the moment, the correct answer should be number 1.

  • I finally got an answer, and it looks good.

    heres the mail:

    Sorry for the delay

    1) A total of 128 robots for the 7th Wars
    2) As many that get through qualyfing and that enter
    3) As above
    4) We are still deciding
    5) Only 3 will be from the UK at present.
    6) We are unsure but we hope at least one will be offered a place

    7) At present the 12 robots who got into the 6th Wars Semi Finals will be offered an automatic place. This will allow everyone else to compete for the remaining 116.
    8) All robots will have an equal chance and that means those from europe as well.

    9) You would compete against all robots at present.

We also have the ability to possibly hand out Wild Cards to those robots that impress but do not win there qualyfing heat. This would give them the chance to compete in the 7th Wars.

I hope this answers all your questions.

    Many Thanks

  • Thx a lot Bryan, this ist indeed interesting. And I agree -doesn't look too bad.

  • New info of the grapevine, not that many UK robots are registered to the S7 at the moment. There are a lot of empty spaces.
In any case, I guess we all have a good chance.
