Because parts are much easier available than 15 years ago I don't see any purpose for Raptors being a starter class.
Therefore it could have the same rules as Featherweights.

Genau. Ein neuer wesp sollte es sein
It was never about the damage, but as easy entry for people that already were doing "normal" RC stuff.
Whatever you build, it is not inspiring to test a new robot, with all its possible faults, in a full on match against a proven, veteran bully robot. It's better to have the opportunity to do some test matches first. Also, competences, commitments and budgets are different for all roboteers. It is really the same difference between professional football teams and our local amateur, under 16 years old, teams.
I know several people that would like to have a choice between 3rd division, 2nd division or Battlebots level, including myself (20+ years veteran now).
Maybe beetleweight is the new raptorweight? It just looks too small in even the DRG arena.
I think Raptors, using normal RC modelling parts, still has a purpose as starting class. It is also good to experiment with brushless technology. Maybe it would be better as a start, without spinners? Downside is that it is only at GRA and DRG events.
The Featherweight class is more spectacular so it would be nice to have more competitors there. A sportsman class would be nice to gain experience with the class or a new robot. But both without spinners. This also makes room for less power to start with, making the Raptor class obsolete.
By the way, in general the limits of the arena should limit the robots. I still think this can be done by limiting the amount of energy storage on board, so battery capacity.
This can be glued or vulcanized to a metal surface.
Es ist näher als Mulhouse
That's closer than expected.
gemeinsam Essen am Samstag Abend.
Besteht da allgemein Interesse?
Depends on the distance hotel - restaurant, but I expect not.
Also: Harpener Heide 5
What are the planned start and finish times of the tournament(s)?
Judas Kiss and The Other Twin (mistakenly called Cpt Lee) in this video:
It may be good to explain that every match is played as best of 3 manches. Each manche is maximum 90 seconds long. Repairs between manches are allowed.
Link to discord is edited into my previous message.
Niels has started a Discord.com channel for European Roboteers. To have a common meeting point without FB: https://discord.gg/2sN7jjWM
Even without own bot, it might be worth taking a look.
The current plan of the organisers is to take a look at our Gent event in September or October (if that happens).

Did you by any chance mention our next event in Bochum?
I did, but I think they found it a bit too far, for now.
Very likely. There was a large team of students with video equipment. I expect the video to be released in about 4 weeks.
I didn't take very many photos, because I was working on the robots most of the time.
