The event was a big success. We inspired many new builders, some of them even confirmed that they will participate on the next tournament (11.10.2025 in České Budějovice). There was also a big interest about workshops, where the children could learn how to build robots and parents were interested where to buy affordable parts. This inspired us and we are currently working on our czech roboteer website - FLS Battlebots, where we are even planning an e-shop in the future. Attached you can see some pictures from the tournament.

Big thanks to Reiner for providing the arena for the tournament.
We will try to interest as many new builders as possible to start a robot community in Czech Republic.

Don't worry, the Maker Faire is interested in cooperating with me and host tournaments during every festival so there will be more chances to participate

Last chance! Registration ends on Wednesday midnight (7.5.)

It's official! First combat robot tournament in Czech Republic (as far as I know).
Date: 10. - 11.5.2025
Place: Prague
Category: Antweight
Registration: https://forms.gle/AFgVGNqLJH3Yu9YS8
Rules: adapted GRA rules
More information here: https://make-more.notion.site/Maker-Faire-Pr…7ecfa4bf5bd75e2
Depending on the number of the registered bots, there should be up to 10 rounds and there will be branded tools from sponsors in the prize pool.

Thank you for creating this thread.
As mentioned above, the tournament will be held on 10th and 11th May in Prague. It will be only antweight competition, similar to one in Nürnberg last October. Expected start will be on Saturday 9am with tech check and from 10am we could start with first round. There will be probably 3-4 rounds each day so bring enough spares. If it is possible, the arena will be set the same way as in Bochum on second day - just a small opening into the hole on each side. We will follow GRA rules.
Registration and more detailed information should hopefully come during following days.

technically smallest possible laserable diameter is 0.8*material thickness.
Why is that? The heat becomes too concentrated and starts to melt the material?
Would the new shape in picture help?

Hello, sorry for interupting this thread but I have a question related to the last few posts. I am currently planning to have a laser cut weapon for my bettleweight robot for the first time. The thickness is 12mm and there are 4mm holes designed in it. Is it possible to manufacture or I will need to redesign the shape similar to Jalapeno's weapon?

From my experience with Olivia, I do not recommend a drill. Drilling requires higher torque and less speed than saw blade and also you need to apply pressure from above for the drill to catch in the material which is difficult with weak servos. But it looks cool and it is ideal for fun fights

To
You could try to setup exponential rates. It can help you gain more sensitivity but still maintain your full speed potential.

Borrow is no problem, i switched to Malenkis in all bots recently and have 3 of those receivers packed for an old drivetrain im gonna use in case the Malenki on the pusher breaks down.
Borrowing would be perfect! After the tournament I will desolder it and return to you as new. Can I count with you?
Someone here mentioned buing them from Amazon, unfortunately there is no Amazon in my country and it takes long time to deliver here.
Also I have kind of managed to get my ESP module running so I could control my bot through wifi if there was no other solution.
