bumping this, BBB has now changed their rules to allow switches. would it be an idea to test this at bochem or dortmund?

my recent builds have all been bigger then the 10x10x10
and i think 150mm by 150mm by infinite is fine. and if you really want your bot to be bigger, you have to start the match on your side.
tho seeing some things some uk people thought about, it scares me. but we could just say no to those
it will depend on when if i can be there. prob not if its 8th or 22nd of febuary. others we will be sure to come over (and not with too many bots)

In the UK they have been testing switches on beetles and no issues have arose as of right now.
Personally i dont like the idea too much of Switches as in if the hole gets blocked, youre in tough luck.
You could say the hole has to be a certain oversize to hopefully make it always turnoffable.
Also as seen in a few UK rulesets (like Sceetles, Link: https://battlescar.co.uk/Rules-and-Resources/ ) They mandate certain switches known to be good.
In case of fire i understand the concern, as you need to precision reach in the bot. and you cant reach it from far like you could with a link.
in my opinion it could be tested, with stricter rules. and only as beetles, since raptors and feathers dont have iirc a standardised switch yet.

If the FC beetle fights are done as 4-way melee's we can easily fit a round within 2 hours. Since we have (8-2)+(8-1) = 13 hours, this is enough for 6 rounds, and even some finales in the last hour of the weekend.
I'm personally not much a fan of 4 ways every round. The 32 beetles will then quickly become 20. For example, youre pushing one into the wall and Wajoo comes around and breaks 2 motors. gets expensive very quickly and you cant really defend much from it.
I would not agree with the Max insect rule. this would i think limit the newer builders or people who dont have the space to make bigger bots.
With round time, it possibly might save something.
but an surgestion would be maybe adding a maximum amount of entries to Beetles, like 24? basically first come first serve, but 1st entries have priority. as to not have one team be early entering 5 bots and dissallow someone with 1 bot of a spot.
imo thats better then limiting who can enter on how well they do or if they build bigger bots. but feel free to surgest.
Can say tho this is a good issue to have 
p.s. What you could do is limitless Beetle event 1 day at bochum if theres space there. simular format as BBB uses
There are several options:
- Make poules of 6 to 8 robots, the winning one goes to the final on Sunday afternoon.
- Reduce time between fights by alternating between ant-arena and FW-BW-arena continuously.
- Continuous running with lunchbreak for marshalls or 2 teams of marshalls.
- Both arena's running simultaneously.
- Limit amount of robots, per team.
We will get there this weekend and have fun. If you need help from me, just let me know. I am sure also Luca is willing to support.
On this, i would maybe surgest running 2 minute fights, in the UK (at least with beetles) it worked well. then we could maybe slot in an extra round and have a Finals round/Rumbles/Funfights round at the end of Sunday.
The beetles is the main issue, with 32 bots. already doing 2 min fights there would help to reduce each round time by about 15 mins. with all others also doing that even more.
im willing to help with beetles to keep all running. and maybe assist some tech checking of non spinners (would quickly have to explain what i need to look at but got a general idea)
and for future, limiting the amount of bots in competition per team to 2 might be a good idea. the rest can be for fun fights.
So, 2 min fights, 5 rounds. if there are ties theres a finals round, with Funfights and rumbles
Is there an Updated Competitor list? so i know how many spares i have to take with me . Looking forward to it!
