The story of Cookiemonster.
Somewhere in 2013 during a lunch break at work, the first plans for a robot were made. After seeing several eggbeaters, the choice for the type of robot was also quickly made.
After learning some CAD drawing through youtube and asking around on various forums, it was time to do some building.
A lot of practice and grumbling later, the first drawing for a base plate for Cookiemonster was ready.
This could now be cut by my brother (laser operator) so I could concentrate on the electronics. We chose 3mm stainless steel for the bottom plate and 10mm steel for the sides. The main reason for using these materials was their free availability.
After ordering some Motors (Gimsons GR02), it was time to update the brushless speed controllers (TZ85A) with new firmware for brushed motors.
The first test was with a wedge version of the robot to see if it would all work.
Now that the basics were in place, we could start working on the weapon.
After a long search for a piece of 20mm Hardox 500, it was time to try cutting it with the laser. Not ideal but it works. As we didn't have a lathe at our disposal, we added the axles later which eventually proved to be a weak point.
The first event for Cookiemonster was MMM-18 Bochum Germany in 2014.

The weapon looks great
I'm surprised how well your robot drives considering how far back the wheels are. We built a robot with similar shape and it's traction was terrible. -
Thanks! I was surprised too
Really like how it handles.
In the future I can place the wheels 10 mm more to the front of the robot this should make it even better. -

looks nice. how much rpm the weapon achieves?
-
Thanks! In the video the weapon runs around 5000 rpm.
In the final situation it should run around 8000 rpm.
The egg beater is only 1.6 kg Hardox 450 so its not a monster, but I think good fun for an event like INDI Robot Games.
At the moment I have a design for a 3kg drum for other competitions.
Maybe later this year I will try to build this drum... after I finish building my first beetleweight -
@Upstart A 3kg drum, that's a little Monster. I m looking forward to see the Beetleweight.
