Team RCC robotter.

  • Waaas?! 8o8o

Schade, darf man fragen an wen?

  • Hannibalito 4 was sold to Gareth Anstee, who is also operating Dystopia (an older Ripper) and Utopia (a feather-Ripper with Beauty influences).

    Why?
With Bullfrog, Kan Opener, Hannibalito 3, Valkiri 2, Kashei and Nebelwerfer 2 Team RCC has a lot of robots to take care of, combined with 2 to 4 hotelrooms per event in the UK or Germany, money is changing hands fast.

Concerning seeing Defector in Germany or the Netherlands, doubtfull, as there are enough UK events to fill any roboteers need to participate.
But I'm trying to get more UK entries for "our" events.

  • AWESOME!!
One of the best Bot-Designs i ever seen!
Like it a lot, reminds me a bit to Starwars 1 with
    the spaceships around Naboo. :D

Did you bring it to MMM17?
Want to see it in real. ;)

    Warum einfach?
    Wenns auch kompliziert geht??? ;)

  • The tyre is brandnew. Biketyre an't that expensive.

Searching for used, but suitable tyres would cost me more than buying the new once localy.

Concerning drive, we'll know in a week or two.

    Lets call it an experiment.

  • After a Saturday frantic grinding, milling, drilling, turning and polishing to find more than a half a kilo of weight in a "optimised design"
CAD seems to be optimistic about the local gravity field.

Adding the wire loom, and on Sunday we could run the first tests.

Drive was accurate, but slow and powerless. Also, the pinions kept coming lose.
First spinup of the disk scary as hell. But the wrong way around. After switching 2 of the 3 motorwires, test 2. SMOKE. A 150 amp Turnegy K-Force speedo just went large smokebomb in an instant.

Checking up the speedo reviled that the mid bank of fets just blew like a Golem Speedo. No mechanical reasons found.

Second series of drivetests, with the pinions glued to the axles with Loctite 638 was a lot better in dependability, but still gutless. As the setup is experimental as it can come, we were already working around this problem, using the "bigger brother combo".

But it kept nagging. Even if the setup would be extremely inefficient, pushing the speedo's and motors to their limit, it should perform better, with everything running hot. It didn't, motors and speedo's barely got over ambient.

A bench test. 11.1V 6amp was the max, stalling the setup. Voltage drop on the 2200mAh cells was 0.3V (from 3.8 to 3.5. 0.2V above cut off). Strange, as the speedo's are 25A cont and 90 amp burst, no current limiting.

I changed the reciever for a servo tester. Woha. Stall wasn't in the books, the rubber on the wheel smoked, the motors grunted getting warm, the speedo's got lukewarm and the amperemeter stayed around 20A.

I just hope the replacement speedo's ( Hobby King SS190-200, like in Valkiri 2, or Alienpower Jet 180) arrive in time for MMM.

Next Sunday. Changing the RX/TX settings to get the full power from the drive set up.
Adding top and bottom armor plate and get the link seated like it should.

But now, I'm enjoying 3 days of rest at mums place. Plenty sleep, plenty food and plenty drink. Roboteers welcome, just like in the house of Chaos.

  • Changing the settings on the TX/RX helped , and some tweaking of the speedo's themselfs was not bad either, but drive stays weak and not to our standards of control.

We have a potential solution for the drive, but it's doubtfull we can implement that for MMM and won't be cheap.

The new speedo for the disk, that's another matter. The Hobbyking SS190-200 , from the box, soldered the EC5 and 4mm female connetors to the wires, tie-rapped in the robot, connect, ready. Instant startup, incredible end speed. What more does a roboteer want?
